On October 30th the AIDA Blu ran dry on the graving dock no. 8 in the yard „Chantier Naval de Marseille“. Turbo-Technik was doing the installation of the new scrubbers on two diesel generators associated with the replacement of the upper exhaust pipes for the vessel.
Starting the preparatory works on board of the vessel on October 14th -this involved for example erection of scaffold inside the funnel, installation of additional beams for scrubber foundations, dismantling of gratins, pre cutting of deck segments, welding works- and the preparatory works in the yard on October 25th, we were ideally geared up to start the dry dock operations on October 30th afternoon. Following the preparatory works we could directly start to remove deck parts as well as the exhaust pipe segments, which led to lifting the second scrubber DG1 on November 1st into the funnel.
As all works were done smoothly in 24/7 day and night shifts we were able to finish all works in a minimum of time. This is the success of good project planning and a good partnership with „Chantier Naval de Marseille“ for our customer AIDA and Carnival Corporation & plc..
